Some couples would love a romantic holiday away while others would very much prefer a more relaxed trip abroad together. Whether your style is romantic, laidback or adventurous, there is something in Jamaica for you.

Portland

Now this area is perfect for couples who love nature and want to be surrounded by it for their entire vacation. Another plus for you is there are many eco-resorts some of which are unique and romantic all in one.

Hotels like Kanopi House combine culture, nature and romance with their eco-friendly treehouses tucked away in the rainforest that give the ultimate privacy.

You can also go for a little adventure since Portland offers hikes and rides through the Blue Mountains, our tallest mountain range on the island. The trek to Turtle Bay is an adventure as you climb steep hills to get to a gorgeous beach.

If you are up for a drive out of the parish you can head over to the Bath fountain in neighbouring St. Thomas for a rejuvenating mud and steam massage from the natural hot water.

If all of those sound like too much of a hassle, then relaxing at the Blue Lagoon or on one of the many beaches might be right up your alley. The Blue Lagoon also has rafting or boating which can provide a romantic segue. The Rio Grande has rafting as well.

An afternoon stroll through Port Antonio will give you a chance to see how the locals live and you can pick up a few Jamaican favourites as well.

Ocho Rios

Ocho Rios focuses a lot more on adventures so there is very little chance of you being bored here. Ocho Rios is the home of many of our favourite attractions and adventure parks.

You can head to Mystic Mountain for an epic day in the rainforest overlooking the Ocho Rios Bay or you can visit the adventure parks Chukka or Yaman for ATVs, ziplining, horseback and camel riding and many other activities. Of course, you know Dunnโ€™s River Falls, but it is Ocho Rios, there are other falls to check out around the parish as well.

Rafting is one of the most romantic things you can do while in Jamaica and the White River in Ocho Rios offers that. However, if you are up for a bit of travelling outside of the parish, you can choose Trelawny for rafting on the Martha Brae.

Although it is a town chock full of activities, there are also quite a few parks and gardens where relaxation is in order. You can have a stroll through the Shaw Park and Gardens or a lunch date/picnic at the Turtle River Park and Falls.

For those who love learning about new cultures together, you can take one of the day tours to the historical sites around the town.

The nearby towns of Runaway Bay and Discovery Bay are also perfect for day explorations.

Negril

Negril is for the laid-back couple who seeks days of lounging by the pool, strolling along the beach, shopping in the afternoon and romantic dinners illuminated by the sunset and starry skies. Most of the activities in Negril are sightseeing tours but you have a few adventurous ones mixed in as well, like a trip to JamWest Adventure Park. They have ATVs, ziplining and a mini safari.

Rickโ€™s Cafe is a favourite for cliff jumping and watching the sunset. And if youโ€™d love to watch the sunset from a different vantage point, the lighthouse gives gorgeous uninterrupted views.

Dinners at Xtabi and the Caves provide the perfect ambience for an outdoor private dinner and the Rockhouse restaurant is a perfect indoor option with an impressive wine list thrown in.

Negril also has quite a few adults-only resorts with clothing-optional beaches, the most popular of all being Hedonism II.

It is great for motorised and non-motorised watersports of all kinds or if you would prefer to have a leisurely time on a boat, a catamaran might be better.

You can choose either a party day boat or a beautiful breakfast or dinner on the sea.

Montego Bay

If you are a couple who loves staying in luxury resorts which cater specifically to adults on vacation, then you are in luck. Montego Bay has multiple resorts like Sandals, Secrets and Hyatt Ziva which are all adult-only resorts on the coast.

Montego Bay is also a great place for shopping and learning the history and culture of Jamaica through the many tours located in and around the second city. The location of the city makes it a great spot to hop to other towns such as Negril or Falmouth for the day and head back for some quiet time together or to enjoy the cityโ€™s nightlife.

For couples who love golfing, swimming, snorkelling or other watersports, Montego Bay has these options ready and waiting for you.
