We love puddings! A #Real Jamaican will have a healthy slice of pudding in the morning, noon or night - not only for dessert.
But ask a few Jamaicans what is their favourite Jamaican pudding.
I'll bet you (and win) that 95% of them will respond with either one of the following two (2):

And so, it is for this reason, while I am on the matter of Jamaican food, that I chose to share them with you, the recipes for two most popular Jamaican puddings with you..
By the way, did I tell you that we also combine them?
Oh yes, we do have Jamaican sweet potato & cornmeal pudding recipe (combo style) as well.
I actually posted it sometime ago and it is still creating waves.

Here now are the individual recipes for them below - enjoy (and please share)
Authentic Jamaican Cornmeal Pudding RECIPE
Traditional Jamaican Pudding - Cornmeal | PhotoCredit: @westindiangrocerydelivery
INGREDIENTS
- 1/4 lb. grated pumpkin
- 2 cups grated coconut
- 1/4 pound sugar
- 1 cup cornmeal
- 1 tsp salt (to taste)
- 1/2 cup flour
- 2 tablespoons shortening
- 1 teaspoon spice
- 2 oz raisins and,
- milk (or water) to mix
METHOD
- Mix together pumpkin and coconut with dry ingredients
- Melt shortening and add it to the dry ingredients.
- Mix in the milk (or water)
- Bake in a greased shallow pan in a moderate oven.
TO GET THE SOFT TOPPING:
- Combine 1 cup whole milk, 1/2 tsp cinnamon powder and approximately 3 oz dark sugar. Mix until sugar dissolves, then..
- Pour the mixture over the pudding mixture and bake at 350ยฐF for one hour.
Traditional Jamaican Sweet Potato Pudding RECIPE

INGREDIENTS
- 4 cups grated sweet potatoes
- 1 tablespoon lime juice
- 2 tablespoons rum
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1/2 cup coconut milk
- grated rind of 1 lime
- salt to taste
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon powdered cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon seedless raisins
METHOD
- Add sugar gradually to grated potatoes and eggs and mix well
- Mix in butter vigorously with a fork
- Add milk and blend well.
- Mix in grated rind of lime and the lime juice
- Add the rum
- Mix well
- Sift salt, baking powder and cinnamon together
- Add all, plus raisins and continue mixing
- Pour the mixture into a greased pan and bake at a moderate oven for about 50 minutes, until done.
- Remove, cool and serve.
Makes approximately 8 servings.
