1. Flagstaff Bakery

One of the oldest bakeries in Montego Bay is known for its thick and heavy hard dough bread. This bread is a hit especially among the older population that is always lamenting that “bread a mek too soft nowadays”. While their bread is what they are well known for they also sell Bullas, Rock Cakes and even sweet treats like Coconut Drops. They are located at 17 Barnett Street, Montego Bay and can be contacted at +1 (876) 971-4694.

2. St. James Bakery

This is another bakery that seems to have been around for ages. You will find many people lined up early to grab their fresh bread, buns, bullas, coco bread and more in bulk portions. They also do sweeter pastries like the all-time favourite sweet potato and cornmeal puddings, and Jamaican’s favourite cake, the rum or Christmas cake. They are located on Barnett Street and can be contacted at (876) 952-2215.

3. Captain's Bakery

They have been in operation since February 1995 and now have several locations across the island and in Grand Cayman. known primarily for their birthday cakes, when you step inside the small bakery you will be welcomed by the numerous colourful birthday cakes displayed in glass cases.

They also do Breads, Bullas, Donuts and other pastries such as Strudels. They are located on the ever-busy St. James Street, contact them at 876-952-1788.

You know a great bakery when the lines are so long they wrap around the street. That is exactly what you will find at this bakery, but it is worth the wait as they have arguably the best bread in Montego Bay.

They have been operating in Jamaica for over 38 years, providing the most loved pastries like Bullas, Buns, Sugar Bun, Coco Bread, Rock Bun and many more. They are located at 44 Railway Lane - Montego Bay, contact them by phone: +1 876-979-0796.

7. Mega Mart Bakery

Mega Mart is the first stop for many when it comes to grabbing birthday cakes, or any celebratory cakes. Their black forest cake is a must-have for many Montegonians. You will also find many other pastries like Chocolate Chip Cookies, Strudel Bites, Danishes and more. Don’t miss out on their delicious Blueberry Muffins (my favourite) and their rich, creamy, melt in your mouth Cherry Cheesecakes (this is my favourite too).

When ordering birthday cakes, place your order a day in advance. They are located in Catherine Hall, Montego Bay and can be contacted at +1 (876) 969-1533.

8. Progressive Bakery

Popular for its birthday cake options such as their red velvet or black forest cake. They also sell a selection of other pastries like macaroons, cookies, pies, strudels and many more. Their selection of pastries can be quite random, so you never quite know what delicious surprise you will find on any given day.

If you would like a very small cake for a baby’s first birthday or a photoshoot you can grab a 6-inch cake there as well. They are located at Fairview Montego Bay, contact them at (876) 684-9825.

This is one of the newest bakeries in town, and have created quite a stir with their delicious cakes. They also do custom cakes for any occasion. As their name suggests, they are located at Fairview Montego Bay. Contact them at 1876-678-3536.
