After the wedding bells and endless celebrations with family and friends, you likely just want to relax and unwind with your significant other. Where better to do that than in the tropical paradise of Jamaica? Here are just a few reasons why our island is the perfect honeymoon destination and why couples choose it so often:

  • Beautiful beaches: With stunning white sand beaches and crystal clear waters, Jamaica is home to some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Whether you want to simply relax in the sun, go for a swim or snorkel, or try your hand at various water sports, there is a beach for you.

  • Laidback vibe: Our island is known for its laid-back and relaxed atmosphere. The locals are friendly and welcoming, the pace of life is slow and easy, and the overall vibe is very chill. Perfect for honeymooners wanting to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

  • Delicious food: We are known for our delicious cuisine, including jerk chicken, curry goat, and ackee and saltfish. You’ll also find plenty of fresh seafood and tropical fruits to enjoy.

  • Music and nightlife: Jamaica is the birthplace of reggae music and you’ll find plenty of opportunities to listen to live music while enjoying the local nightlife. Whether you want to dance the night away or simply enjoy a cocktail with your loved one, Jamaica has it all.

  • Adventure activities: If you want to do more than just relax on the beach, Jamaica has plenty of adventure activities to keep you busy. Try zip-lining through the rainforest or go on a hike to see waterfalls and stunning vistas. And for the truly adventurous, you can even go cliff diving!

What is the best time to visit Jamaica for a honeymoon?

While it does sound like a dream come through, it may take a bit of planning. You like many others may be under the impression that Jamaica is sunny and has the perfect weather all year round, which may be so depending on what you consider the perfect weather to be. However, if you want to avoid getting trapped in your hotel room for the entire duration of your honeymoon, you might want to ensure you plan your honeymoon around our island's dry season.

Plan your honeymoon between December and March for the greatest potential weather. I am sure that if you are planning a tropical honeymoon getaway at some point you are going to want the option of leaving your resort and visiting some of our island's top places to visit like Dunn’s River Falls, Mystic Mountain, Dolphin Cove, or try out any of Chukka Cove's many adventures, none of which are as fun, or safe during the rainy season.

The best time of year to travel to Jamaica for a honeymoon is during these high-season months when the temperature is a balmy 83° and there is little chance of rain. This is the perfect time to enjoy the outdoors, go on excursions, and explore the island together. However, be prepared for your accommodation prices to be a bit higher as this is the peak season and most hotels, resorts, guesthouses and villas will significantly increase their prices. You can also expect a bit of crowd in popular spots.

The shoulder season months of April and May are also a fantastic choice because the weather is still dry but prices are beginning to drop and there are fewer tourists there.

The rainy season is from July to October, but don’t let this put you off. This is still a great time to go on a honeymoon in Jamaica, especially if you want to avoid the crowds and explore the island in peace. The rain usually comes in short bursts, so you can still enjoy the sunshine between showers if you are planning on outdoor activities, it just might take some more planning and keeping up with the local weather forecast.

This weather won't prevent you from enjoying indoor activities like visiting museums or restaurants. Our hurricane season is from June to November, so it overlaps with the rainy season. What is great about taking your honeymoon during this season is that hotels and resort prices are drastically reduced, giving you the opportunity to spend more time for less money.

Now that you have why you should visit and when you should come for your honeymoon, head over to this page to find out about some of the best places to stay while you are on your honeymoon in Jamaica.
