Jamaica, being a tropical paradise has been the location of choice for many weddings and honeymoons over the years. Because of this, there are many honeymoon resorts in Jamaica. But what are the favoured spots? Which one is the best?

The answers to those questions will vary depending on how you plan on spending your honeymoon. Are you looking for an all-inclusive, romantic getaway, with lots of activities on the property? Or, are you searching for a quiet, secluded haven with just a few people around and many spots to sneak off to, relax and enjoy each other's company and be blissful newlyweds?

1. Sandals

And we are starting off strong with Sandals Resorts International options. You have multiple locations to choose from in Negril, Montego Bay and Ocho Rios. But I think the best 4 to choose from for your honeymoon are Sandals Royal Caribbean, Sandals South Coast, Sandals Negril and Sandals Ochi. Standard rooms are just as great but for a true Sandals honeymoon experience, the love nest suites are where you should look.

With overwater bungalows at Sandals South Coast, overwater bungalows on a private island at Sandals Royal Caribbean and Sandals Ochi that offers you two different vacations on the same trip. You can choose to be on the fun vibrant side of the resort, with never-ending nightlife, or you can head over to the serene, lush and peaceful side of the resort for some quiet time instead.

You can also check out their honeymoon package which includes a complimentary turndown service, the first night of your vacation which includes flower petals on your bed.

You can even seamlessly hop from a wedding with friends and family at a Beaches resort to a private adult only honeymoon at your Sandals property of choice.

2. Couples

The resort is called Couples, so I think it is safe to say, a honeymoon at any of their four properties in Jamaica isn’t a bad idea. It isn't only beautiful views and stunning accommodations, there are also countless opportunities to upgrade your honeymoon. It starts off with a complimentary bottle of sparkling wine and a 25-minute couples massage at their spa.


Friends and loved ones can even gift you on your honeymoon by adding an upgrade to your honeymoon registry and couples. From candlelit dinners by the beaches to special honeymoon decorations in your room. You can use your online registry to add romantic amenities and experiences to your honeymoon. You can also enjoy movie nights, salsa classes and other fun and romantic activities with your partner throughout your vacation.

Couples are also a little more relaxed when it comes to clothing. There are some parts of the resorts that are designated topless areas for those who would love to sunbathe and not suffer tan lines. Their Couples Tower Isle location in St. Mary has its own, self-titled Tower Isle private island, just a short boat ride from the mainland. Here, going au naturel is not a choice, it is compulsory.

3. Hedonism II

Those who love Hedonism love a little more adventure than the average person. And who better to have an adventure with than the person you just said “I do” to. Some people want to slow down a little after a wedding, but not everyone is like that. Some are just grateful to have found someone who enjoys the nightlife, partying and endless fun just as much as they do.

These are the people Hedonism II caters to. At 35 years in the business, Hedo as it is called on the island is famous for being a judgement-free, entertainment centre in Negril, Westmoreland. Which is the reason it comes as no surprise that there is a nude side and a clothing-optional side. Common areas, for example, restaurants do require clothing though.

4. Strawberry Hill Hotel

A secluded hotel in the hills of the Blue Mountains in Kingston sounds like the perfect vacation. On your trip into the mountains, you can go for a bike ride or a hike with your partner, then come back for a spa treatment and the renowned Strawberry Hill Spa. If you long for your honeymoon to be a nature escape then Strawberry Hill is where you want to be. 

It is a part of the Island Outpost family, and if you book through Island Outpost you will see the option for GoldenEye, Fleming Villa or The Caves. You can also look at these resorts as potential accommodations for your upcoming honeymoon.

5. Skylark Negril

Skylark is a Patois word that means to lounge about. I don’t think there is anything that describes my ultimate honeymoon that to “skylark” and relax the entire trip. As a smaller resort with an amazing restaurant and captivating beach, I think it has all three necessary requirements for the perfect, private island getaway. 

Its central location also allows you to take a stroll through the casual, laid back town of Negril and experience all it has to offer. You can visit the 7-mile beach, go to one of the many restaurants, or enjoy the nightly activities at the club. Only to come back to the comfort of your room, quiet and far away from the hustle of the town.

6. Half Moon

Half Moon, most often than not will not be a part of a list of the most romantic or best honeymoon spots in Jamaica. Half Moon has all that a world-class hotel has to offer its guests. From private villas to house your entire family and still give you enough privacy to many opportunities for fine dining experiences, especially at the Sugar Mill Restaurant located right on their famed golf course. 

They have tons of watersports and while they are all-inclusive you have a lot of choices to adjust their meal plans.

7. Jamaica Inn

When a resort is named one of the most romantic places in the world, then you know you are in for a romance filled and exciting honey trip. From private candlelight dinners for two on the beach to couple's sunset massages, there is always something for you and your partner to do together. How did I fail to mention that all their suites have an ocean view? Well, they do, and with a resort that is situated on one of the premier private beaches in Ocho Rios and the country, you can expect a stunning view of the Caribbean Sea. 

They have played host to the likes of Marilyn Munroe and Arther Miller who spent their honeymoon here. They along with countless other celebrities and well-known figures have chosen Jamaica Inn as their home while on vacation in Jamaica.

Which part of Jamaica is best for a honeymoon?

There is always the obvious spots, Montego Bay, Negril and Ocho Rios. However, Kingston, though often overlooked, has many good options for honeymoon resorts in Jamaica. Portland and Treasure Beach, St. Elizabeth also have good options, especially for those trying to get away from the big splash of the tourist towns and cities.

What is the average cost of a honeymoon in Jamaica?

This depends on what you are willing to spend. For smaller, non-all-inclusive hotels, you can pay on average, US $160 per night. It gets a little more expensive for all-inclusive resorts at an average of US $300-500 per night depending on the amenities you want or have access to.

For ultra-luxurious lodgings, such as the overwater bungalows at Sandals Mobay or Sandals South Coast with personal butlers, or private self-contained villas with private pools then you will be looking at upwards of US $1,000 per night.

Is Jamaica nice for a honeymoon?

It most definitely is! From the most beautiful accommodations and hospitable staff to the never-ending list of attractions and restaurants to try, there is really no place nicer, in my terribly biased opinion.

Jamaica is a treasure trove of places to go, things to do and just overall have a fun and relaxing getaway. The hardest parts of the trip will be finding the best honeymoon resort and when it’s time to go, it will be hard to leave. I think after this list, I have assisted you with the best options for honeymoon resorts in Jamaica. I haven’t figured out a way to help you miss the island less thorough.
