Sangster's Orange (Ortanique) Liquer

QUESTION:.

I visited Ocho Rios and stayed at the Sand Castle Resort.

The bartender gave me a shot of orange liqueur called Old Sangster's Ortanique.

How might I purchase this in the United States? Also I have a friend coming via cruise line to Jamaica. Is this available in any shops in Ocho Rios?

I actually called the Sand Castle Hotel yesterday to find out about this one but the bartender (at the pub bar) was not aware.

Today I called both Wray and Nephew (876 923-6140) - the bottlers, and Lascelles (876-923-9231) - the distributors.

They confirmed that they had this product, named Sangster's Ortanique Liqueur, but no longer bottles nor distributes it.

It seems you might have just been lucky then to get what could possibly be one of the last remaining bottles.

Your friend coming in Ocho Rios could still try the shops though; he or she might just be lucky too.

Having said that, I doubt it will be available in the US, but then again, you never know.
