Stov, the happy Jamaican

Photo Contest Entry #1 This image was taken during a short visit to Jamaica in Nov 08. The gentleman in the photo was with friends in the market of Port Antonio and when I approached him. 'Stov' was the friendliest person and was happy for me to take this photograph and more with his bicycle. Although he clearly had little money and was living on his wits, he was happy to pose for photos and showed me where I could eat tradition Jamaica fare with local people. I had Sorrel drink and superb food. I gave him some change for his troubles and kindness, but in doing so I still felt he would have done the same for nothing as he enjoyed showing a foreigner in his beloved Jamaica. It just shows, with very little you can still afford a smile. I wish Stov could see the photo but I have no way of getting it to him. If I win the USD25 prize, it's no good to me here in Europe so if you can find Stov in Port Antonio, give it to him - you know what he looks like! Click here to read or post comments.
