Ever heard of Sandy Haven Resort?  Well now you do :-)

And you'll hear a lot more about it soon. It is a new, intimate, luxury hotel here in Negril, Jamaica. In fact, it is considered to be the only luxury boutique hotel in Negril.

Funny enough, I made a recommendation to this hotel even before I got there!

That is not usual, but I made a calculated decision simply based on reviews I saw and the fact that one of my former classmates - someone I have the utmost respect and appreciation for, has a senior post there and spoke highly of it.

And I was not to be disappointed - within two weeks, my referral, booked, came to Jamaica, and made a facebook note, not only sharing her appreciation of my efforts, but also indicating that the hotel had exceeded her expectations!

Well, yours truly passed through the Negril area (had a few other appointments) and stopped by Sandy Haven briefly.

I too was impressed from what I saw!

PROPERTY

As I mentioned earlier, I had some other engagements and was running against time so was a bit anxious before I got in.

But the minute I walked on the property (parking is limited), I felt a soothing, tranquil atmosphere that calmed my nerves almost instantaneously.

The area is small but is simply beautiful! I can see how the elegant decor, especially of the lobby area, the garden flowers, the tranquil atmosphere and the soft colours can surely set the tone for a great stay.

BARS AND RESTAURANTS

They boast two dining areas - The Almond Tree Deck; where breakfast and lunch are served, and the more formal Bongos that has a more contemporary decor that house a wine cellar and a grand piano.

They also have an grill that facilitates the needs of those who are looking for a bite between meals.

Two bars on on property - the Beach Bar and the Premium Bar, which is situated inside Bongos Restaurant.

ROOMS

The hotel has 35 guest suites, which includes garden and ocean views and their their most luxurious, the Deluxe Ocean Front Rooms.

They have all (plus more) of the standard amenities you would expect from a fine 4-star resort, including:

BEACH AND POOL

The property is situated along the famous '7 mile beach' so yes, you get a live opportunity to dive into what many consider to be the best beach in Jamaica!

By the way, one of the beauty of this seven mile beach is that guests are not restricted to their hotels - and it is the same with Sandy Haven Resort, guests can walk anywhere along the entire stretch of beach; perhaps the only caveat is to remember where you entered from :-)                  

The also have an enticing pool on property for those who prefer that option.

And yes, that's the Jacuzzi in the background!

OTHER AMENITIES

In addition to a spa area adjacent to the pool, I also noticed a small gym and a mini gift shop  - across from the front desk.

They also offer meeting and conference room services and is now one of the preferred destinations for weddings in Negril.

REVIEWS

I will be back to get make an even deeper observation (and I can't wait) but I glanced across to Trip Advisor and checked their ratings.

Of the 191 reviews they received to date (still a new property), a phenomenal 91% had positive reviews!

In fact, 161 of the guest either said it was 'very good' or 'excellent' - allowing them to sit strong at a solid 4.5 of 5 rating! Not bad for a 1.5 year old establishment!

CONTACT/RESERVATIONS

Formerly the "For Real" resort, this spanking new hotel was opened in March/April 2012.  They operate primarily on an EP plan, but does offer the all-inclusive option to their clients.

The property is located on the famous Norman Manley Boulevard  so you can't miss it.
